Human Resource
Audit Training
As human
resource audit specialists FACTS trainers are uniquely
qualified to help human resource department heads and
internal auditors conduct more thorough, expedient and
valuable human resource audits. While we often customize
programs to meet specific client needs, training
typically is designed around one of the following three
options
OPTION 1
consists
of a 3 ½ hour training program at your site on how to
conduct a human resources or organizational audit,
efficiently, expediently, objectively and thoroughly.
This training program includes a PowerPoint, handouts
and templates needed for conducting internal audits.
At the end of the session, participants will have a
template to use for auditing human resource functions,
instruction on sample selection, review and analysis
processes, regulatory requirements and best practices
that should be included, and other information necessary
to conduct internal FACTS Cases, examples, situational
analysis and other activities are incorporated to ensure
a “hands on” learning experience. Questions are always
welcome thorough out.
OPTION 2
goes beyond the classroom and includes an audit of one
of your locations, (typically your corporate site)
conducted by your organization’s internal auditor(s) the
HR Director and/or his/her designee(s) using an audit
process template we provide and with an FACTS auditor
on-site providing guidance, direction and coaching.
This option typically takes 2 days on-site. At the
conclusion of the second day, you will have gone through
a full audit process, have the data, sample results, and
all other information and materials needed to draft an
audit report/summary and the experience of having
completed an audit prior to “soloing”.
OPTION 3
consists
of FACTS completing an audit of one location while
representatives of your organization look on and
participate as appropriate.
This process facilitates the collection of vital
information that is often not available to internal
auditors, frees participants to address work demands
while learning and while the audit process continues and
results in your receipt of a complete written audit
report which is followed by a presentation and de-brief
on your site with the FACTS auditor.
The on-site portion of the audit in this option takes
3-4 days. FACTS will draft the written report which will
follow three weeks after the on-site portion, and the
presentation scheduled at your discretion. One of the
vital pieces of information collected during this option
that internal auditors tell us they rarely are able to
get themselves is the candid input from members of the
senior management team and other department heads on
their expectations and perception of the performance of
the HR department. Internal auditors have also indicated
that unless an independent, arms-length, third party is
involved readers of the audit often view the findings
with skepticism, diminishing the value of going through
the arduous audit process and not resulting in the
appropriate level of appreciation/recognition for the
department’s contribution. Internal audits which include
resource requests, technology updates and staffing needs
are often viewed by decision makers as “self-serving”
and acted upon accordingly. This option results in an
independent report and assessment, an example of a
written audit, a formal presentation of the findings, a
template to use in other locations, and an annual
follow-up audit process.
